The Whitby Collection, named for the historic seaside Yorkshire town, is a four-piece cable knit collection, based on traditional aran cable designs. Originally crafted for seafaring and keeping fisherman warm at sea, the cable designs have meanings signifying good luck for the catch and the weather, and draw on the natural world in their design.
Made of pedigree Bluefaced Leicester wool from soil to skin without chemicals in England to be layered or soft enough to be slipped onto bare skin.
Proudly made from soil to skin in the U.K, our knitwear is born of a unique narrative rooted in its place of origin.
Wool - The Whitby Jumper is made from Herd’s very own traceable soft Bluefaced Leicester sheep wool, which they source themselves  at a fair price from farmers in N.W. England and processed and make within 150 miles of the farms. Herd then either blends the yarn to make natural shades, or dye using plant extracts and naturally occurring mordants.
Washing - Wool requires minimal washing. Spot clean and air, or hand wash in cool water if absolutely necessary to preserve the natural oils in the wool.
